As Chair of the Regatta Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Oswego Yacht Club (OYC) LYRA 2012 Annual Regatta website.
The Organizing Committee has been hard at work since the fall of 2009 planning for the event. LYRA returns to Oswego for the first time since 1928. As a founding member of LYRA, OYC takes great pride in providing an exciting venue for both the regatta and social activities during the week-long racing program.
As you navigate the website, you will find information about each race in the Event section. Under History, relevant information regarding LYRA’s beginnings and a link to the main LYRA website will be found. Information about OYC, events occurring in and around Oswego during the week, and a link to contact us are located in the Venue section. Since the conclusion of the regatta coincides with the Canadian holiday the week of August 6th, the Vacation section will be of particular interest. We encourage boats traveling from Toronto, Port Credit, Hamilton and other points west to consider extending their trip east by exploring the Eastern Lake Ontario cruising grounds. Under the Vacation section, you will find links to Henderson Harbor YC, Sackets Harbor and Navy Point, Chaumont, Kingston, Gananaque, the Thousand Islands, and other popular cruising destinations.
Finally, under Registration, participants can link to myYC.com who will be handling online registration and regalia sales. So, on behalf of the Regatta Organizing Committee, I encourage you to plan on attending LYRA 2012 in Oswego where we hope you will “come to race and stay to sail.”
